where they (the government) is proposing the routes."

Graydon said, "...it should come down the east side...many people here at the meeting today agreed...that’s the shorter line, that’s the line that will save the province a half a billion plus dollars..."

Graydon said that these two issues affecting the whole province are "big ticket" items and if money is wasted on them, it reduces funds available for local projects. He referred specifically to the aging water and sewer lines in Grandview which had been brought to their attention.

He noted that local infrastructure is also a concern in their own ridings. "...we have a number of issues with the lagoons for small communities either being undersized or obsolete; and there’s no money to replace them. The infrastructure talked about here is no different than in a town in Emerson."

"You need to have good infrasctructure in order to attract businesses and businesses bring people, and people make your community thrive...we want that to happen again."

Other issues brought to them revolve around the tough times for the cattle and hog industries including Country of Origin Labeling and TB testing.

Blaine Pedersen, MLA for Carman, explained that while his constituency is affected by TB "in a roundabout way", economically, they are not dealing with it first hand. "To come up here and talk to the actual producers makes a heck of a difference."

Pederson said they have been happy with the turnout to meet them, "...it’s been well worth our time to do this."
